At 23, I got a gastric sleeve. I thought if I could just get the body I'd always wanted, the food stuff would sort itself out. I lost the weight. And kept binging. That was my lightbulb moment. This had nothing to do with my stomach. It never did.
I'm also late-diagnosed ADHD, which explained so much about my relationship with food, impulse, and the shame spiral that followed. When I finally started addressing the real root causes (not the food itself), everything changed. I've been binge-free since 2019.
I hold a Master of Counselling, BA Psychology, and am registered with NZAC. I won Steven Bartlett's (Diary of a CEO) business challenge out of 16,000 competitors and host the #5 Mental Health Podcast in Aotearoa New Zealand. The Break Up is the program I wish had existed when I was in it.
